Hej List,

we have a Server with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Kernel 2.6.18-53.

I booted the Server with a CentOS 6.4 Live CD.

After Reboot back into the Serverinstallation got the Following Message:

EXT3-fs: unable to read superblock

I only copied one File to the Disk with the LiveCD.

Have someone an Idea what went wrong?

Regards
Seb

I'm not sure I understand what's going on. First, though, that's a *very*
old kernel - we've a few 5.9 systems, and they're on 2.6.18-348.18.1.

Did you just install on this server, or did it crash, and you were trying
to rescue it?

Hej Mark,

Thanks for your fast response!!!

This is a Linux System running a few years now.

The Application is only supported under this Version I think so.

We need to recover the boot Partition.

I can mount all Partitions under the LiveCD but the RedHat System will
still Panic after boot.

We tried tune2fs -j /dev/md126 what I found on the Web. But the command
told us the Journal is active.

Do you have a clue what happened?

Seb

First: you should *really* try running it on a test system with the current
release.

Second: build a replacement drive, *now*. And look in dmesg or
/var/log/messages - I strongly suspect a failing drive.

No. Cat /proc/mdstat, I think it is. And use smartctl -t

Hej Mark,

OK. I will look into it.

We tryed:
e2fsck -p /dev/md125
i_file_acl for in node 2 (/) is 36908 should be zero
Segmentation fault

What would you say. Make it sense to unraid the System Raid1 and try only to boot from one Harddisk?

When you copied to the disk, did it mount and umount completely cleanly?
Did you mount as the meta device?
